Zebra Technologies SaaS product interface

Situation

Zebra Technologies needed to modernize its custom software division. The existing service-based model was difficult to scale, and there was a significant opportunity to capture recurring revenue through a SaaS product offering.

Task

My role was to lead the design and product strategy for this pivot. The goal was to transition from bespoke software solutions to a unified SaaS platform while maintaining existing enterprise client relationships and growing revenue.

Action

I led a cross-functional team of designers and engineers to build the new platform from the ground up. We conducted extensive user research with existing clients to identify common pain points, which informed our core feature set. We implemented a design system to ensure consistency and speed up development.

Result

The pivot was a massive success. The new SaaS platform significantly reduced client onboarding time and increased operational efficiency. Most importantly, the division's annual revenue grew from $12M to over $18M, validating the strategic shift.
